Teachers do not go into the profession of education for the money or the summers off. A teacher goes into education to make a difference in a student’s life. Christian Del Re received Education Update’s Teacher of the Year award in 2008. Receiving this award is a great accomplishment for any teacher but for Christian Del Re, getting his students to reach their highest level of education is the most important reward.

“I believe in public education and that all students have the ability to learn and achieve at high levels,” says Christian Del Re. One of the most important tools that a teacher can give their student is to set high expectations for them. Christian Del Re believes in pushing his students to succeed and will not give up on any of them. He does not believe in making the work easier for them. Christian Del Re works hard in his role as a teacher to make sure his overachievers continue to succeed and his underachievers will rise to the top.

A great teacher must be engaging in order for the students to learn. Teachers like Christian Del Re will encourage students, involve the whole class, and make the classroom an enjoyable learning atmosphere.
Christian Del Re believes as his students are learning – teachers should be masters of their subject. Christian Del Re has a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Arts in Social Studies Education, and an Educational Leadership Certificate. Christian Del Re believes teachers should continue to apply themselves to receive more education. Christian Del Re says, “I am hard working and go above and beyond to ensure all students receive the best education”.

A strong relationship is an important key to being a great educator. Christian Del Re thinks an educator role goes beyond the classroom. Teachers have to be great leaders in and out of school. Teachers like Christian Del Re participate in school committees, community leadership, and show the school and its community they have a strong dedication to make sure that all students succeed. These are just some of the qualities Christian Del Re believes makes a great educator.
