New York City Police Officer Benjamin Ambrosio Dedicates his Time to Mentoring Junior Officers

After ten years on the force, New York City Police Officer, Benjamin Ambrosio, turns his success into an opportunity to mentor junior officers on the force.

 
Benjamin Ambrosio has been a New York City police officer since 2005 and knows how demanding the job can be. After more than ten years on the force, he has decided to share his experience and pass his knowledge onto the newer recruits. For the last several years, he has been actively involved in mentoring the junior officers on the force. He is excited about the opportunity to help guide and support the newest members of the force. He believes that placing an emphasis on teamwork is the only way you can be successful as a law enforcement officer, and it is the only way in which the department as a whole can successfully serve and protect the community.

In the last ten years as a part of the New York City police department, Benjamin Ambrosio has made over 120 arrests for various felony and misdemeanor crimes. He has been the recipient of the Exemplary Police Duty medal three times in his career, once for making an arrest of an attempted bribery suspect, and twice for his involvement in multiple arrests of suspects for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was also the recipient of a Unit Citation while assigned to the Fleet Services Division of the department. He received this honor because of his extraordinary work as a unit.

Benjamin Ambrosio holds a Bachelor's in Political Science from Loyola College, and a Master's in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He graduated from the New York City Police Academy in 2005, in the top ten percent of his class. He has received training in effective interview techniques and holds a COBRA/CNRB certification. At the police academy, he attended several seminars including one on deadly force incidents and statements, and Interrogation tactics and legal limits. He also holds certificates in Counter-Terrorism Studies and Policing in a Multi-Cultural Society. When he is not busy keeping the community safe, he enjoys cooking and reading and has an extensive watch and badge collection.
