According to a survey ordered by Mylife.com and conducted by Harris Interactive, most social media users would rather spend a night in jail rather than give up on their profiles. That can only mean great news for the marketers who use social media to promote their businesses.

More than half of the respondents (62%) have declared that they check their social networks on daily basis because they don't want to miss out on important news or events. The result of this is an overwhelming sensation of having to do multiple things.

The study showed that rather than giving up on their social networking profiles, 40% of the users would do one of this traditionally unpleasant activities:

1 Read War and Peace

2 Run a marathon

3 Give up on an hour of sleep each night for a whole year

4 Go to the dentist for a major intervention

5 Wait in a huge line at the DMV

6 Clean the showers at their local gym

7 Give up on air conditioner

8 Do their taxes

Millennial users (between 18 and 34 years old) fear on missing out even more. The percent of doing one of the tasks listed above is higher for them, situated at 54%. Also, more than a quarter of the respondents (27%) have said that they send more messages from within their social networks than from their primary email account.

A bit more than half of the respondents (57%) have said that they wish there could be a secure way to manage all their social media profiles and email accounts in a single place.

MyLife.com has answered this users' need by creating a new service called the MyLife Social App and Dashboard. Here, users can manage all their social network profiles and emails in a single place, by using only one password. At the moment they can link their Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail and AOL accounts as well as their Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles. Availability for Pinterest and Tumblr will be added on later.

The new dashboard is available on the Web as well as on mobile platforms that support Android or iOS.
