The city of Austell, Georgia honored Chukwuma Gwude with a very special award on Saturday: Volunteer of the Year. Chukwuma Gwude spends hundreds of hours volunteering each year and the community has noticed. Chukwuma Gwude’s wife and children shared that he has always been able to perfectly balance family life, work, and volunteering in the community. His values have made a strong impact on his children, who also spend much of their time giving back to the community. Chukwuma Gwude is the perfect example of an outstanding citizen.

Chukwuma Gwude chooses to spend much of his time volunteering at his local church and the local food bank. “There is just something so rewarding about giving back, especially to those less fortunate.” Chukwuma Gwude has always been skilled with technology, which he applies to his volunteering at the church. He likes to help out by running the sound booth for the church services on Friday night and Sunday morning.

Chukwuma Gwude also helped his church start a food bank and loves that he can bring food to the hungry in his community. Feeding the poor doesn’t end with the church, however. When he’s not handing out food at the church he is doing it at the local food bank. “There is never a shortage of hungry people, and we’re just striving to meet that need in the community however we can.”

The award ceremony took place on Saturday evening and many of Chukwuma Gwude’s friends and family were in attendance. Many of his friends shared that Chukwuma Gwude inspires them to be better people. One acquaintance shared that Chukwuma Gwude is never content doing just the bare minimum. “He is always looking for more that he can do for his community.”

Chukwuma Gwude was very modest in accepting his award. He claimed that he was no one special and had done nothing special. He didn’t feel that he should receive an award for doing what was right and honorable, but he was very grateful nonetheless. When asked what he would do with his award, he said that he wasn’t sure yet.
