Ryan R Johnson is the President and CEO of The Film House. Recently The Film House opened a studio in Syracuse, New York to provide students the means to further the filmmaking craft.

In 2013, Ryan R Johnson and Michael P. Haggerty founded The Film House. Initially, The Film House was created to distribute films worldwide, organize regional domestic releases, and facilitate global distribution and foreign sales for films. The mindset and direction of The Film House have shifted somewhat since 2013.

In partnership with New York Governor, Andrew M. Cuomo, and Dr. Alain Kayleros of Nanoscale, The Film House opened studios in Syracuse and Albany, New York to facilitate a space for students to explore their creativity and better their movie making skills. The Film House will also be opening a progressive movie education institute called Film School, in 2015.

The effects on the local movie industry in Syracuse have been astronomical, and many believe that Syracuse will soon be the primary haven for independent filmmakers in the United States.

“King Lee” is a recent independent film out of Syracuse. Co-Writer and Director, Jonathon Case, is optimistic over Syracuse’s’ future in the independent film industry.

“If the infrastructure were built-up and the filmmaking community kinda comes alive in Syracuse; I think there’s no doubt that it could be [a promising haven for independent filmmakers]. There’s certainly enough talent, there’s certainly enough drive and passion among the film younger filmmaking community.”

The Film House is not he first personal venture that Ryan R Johnson has made in the independent film industry. In 2003, he founded Pretty Dangerous Films, a production company that went on to produce 18 films in the companies first four years. Pretty Dangerous Films produced two Cannes Film Festival Headliners in “The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things”, starring Jeremy Renner and Winona Ryder, and “Edmond”, starring William H. Macy and Julia Stiles.

Currently, The Film House and Ryan R Johnson, are pursuing inspiring TV projects. They are working on “Brewer Boys”, which is a show that follows the legendary 1966 Los Angeles Municipal Champion baseball team who played and won during the Watt’s Riots. Eight of the nine starters on that team went on to play in Major League Baseball.

As a baseball fan, “Brewer Boys” is a special project for Ryan R Johnson.
