While attending Cornell University in New York for her Master’s degree, Margarita Golub competed in two case competitions. Case competitions are intense student team challenges that focus on performance, leadership skills, and collaborative efforts in a given project over a short amount of time. Normally the focus of the project is in international business, finance, investment or a combination of these specialties. Margarita Golub’s education in each of these topics helped her team get to the finals in both competitions that she took part in. The students must present their projects to a panel and they are judged on which team has completed the challenge most successfully. Students compete in teams and have to work together quickly to solve these tasks.

Margarita Golub’s team was awarded second place when they competed in the Citi Integrative Case Competition in 2011. The Citi Integrative Case Competition is an annual event at Cornell University and students like Margarita Golub must tap into their background and education to complete a difficult project with their team in just two days. The focus of the competition is business, finance, and investments. Margarita Golub has real world skill and academic excellence in all three of these categories; which no doubt helped her team make it into the finals.

Margarita Golub was also on the team that took second place when she competed in the Deloitte Johnson Case Competition. The Deloitte Johnson Case Competition is sponsored at ten universities across the nation and the focus is on international business and business, two things that Margarita Golub excels at. This competition is considered one of the most rigorous academic challenges in the country and to be in the finals, like Margarita Golub and her team were, is an honor reserved for students who excel academically.

Margarita Golub is a strong competitor in life and this shows in her commitment to participating in Case Competitions while attending Cornell University. The intense hours of study and preparation by Margarita Golub helped her teams reach the finals in both of the competitions.
