The Canadian first aid and CPR education institution provides much-needed information during the health crisis.

Coquitlam, BC : With over 12 years of experience in providing first aid and other health-based occupational training to Coquitlam and nearby areas, Metro Safety Training has now become an essential community resource. The COVID-19 health crisis has revealed the extent to which a lack of basic medical knowledge exists for the average civilian.

As the virus has spread globally, more and more people are now trying to obtain first aid and CPR knowledge. The issue at hand is the possibility of local hospitals and ERs being too full for emergency aid of other kinds. There are also fears that people who have the virus and don’t know it are susceptible to deteriorating without a first-aider nearby to help.

The average citizen now realizes that learning to assess medical emergencies and situations could be extremely useful. Metro Safety Training has continued to hold their classes so that essential workers and other civilians may learn how to give CPR and other kinds of first aid to people around them.

They’re consistently following updated medical advice by national and provincial state departments to continue providing essential knowledge during the pandemic. Their list of health and safety protocols is consistently changing due to the crisis's nature, which is why the updated list can be obtained via email.

A representative of the company spoke with us, "By allowing our community to continue getting trained in emergent medical techniques, we're creating a prepared population that can assess and address urgent situations. There's a fair amount of skill that goes into even knowing whether a circumstance needs immediate attention or not. By possessing that knowledge, normal citizens can advocate for themselves better or take a step back when needed. The need of the moment is citizens who are educated about what to do in these situations.”

Metro Safety Training is continuing to provide all the modules for occupational safety, CPR training, and first aid that it had scheduled earlier. They're also monitoring their operations and the situation near their training centers to act swiftly if there's any reason to suspect community transmission of the virus.
