Strictly Focused Advanced Television and Film Script-Writing Program Benefits Graduate Students

Advanced Television and Film – Script to Screen is promoted in this press release. The program is a Graduate offering that differs from other programs because it solely focuses drama filmmaking.

Graduate students who have completed a college advanced diploma (three years) or university degree (three or four years) in any discipline, and are interested in the TV and film industry, are invited to apply for Centennial College’s script writing program — Advanced Television and Film – Script to Screen. The program is especially beneficial for actors, writers, directors, producers, editors and other film and television craftspeople.

Facilitated in a compressed format, this offering takes just two semesters to complete but offers a comprehensive, in-depth, hands-on understanding of what goes into developing and producing quality feature films and TV shows. It is unique among the few other post-grad film and television programs currently available in the Greater Toronto Area because it does not stream students into master classes immediately and focuses solely on dramatic film-making (including all genres) rather than a split focus of drama and documentary filmmaking.

The first semester teaches students to create, pitch, develop, outline, draft and polish four production-ready film scripts of 10 minutes or less in length. Additionally, students gain solid working knowledge of what each crewmember does on a film or television production. This allows them to better collaborate, improvise, problem-solve and empathize with their fellow cast and crewmembers down the line.

In the second semester, students prepare, perform in, shoot and post shows. Because the entire program involves actors, students are able to tailor scripts to an actor’s specific talents. This allows students to produce higher quality student films than those of other script writing Toronto-based programs.
