Vedanta’s Pig Iron Plant Awarded by National Safety Council

A global diversified natural resources company, Vedanta’s Pig Iron Plant at Goa was conferred the Prashansa Patra by National Safety Council of India.

 
National Safety Council of India has conferred upon Vedanta’s Pig Iron Plant at Amona, Bicholim in Goa the Prashansa Patra in Group - D under the Manufacturing Sector for 2016. On behalf of Vedanta, Mr. N L Vhatte (Head Value Addition Business) accepted the Prashansa Patra from Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Labour and Employment, Government of India. The event took place on April 20, 2017 in New Delhi and was attended by Mr. Narhari Gaons, Safety In charge - Pig Iron Plant and Mr. Ramesh Sinari, General Secretary - Sesa Goa Workers’ Union, along with a sea of dignitaries from diverse fields.

Briefing media persons, Mr. N L Vhatte, Head VAB stated, “Vedanta’s Value Addition Business has been consistently achieving milestones reserved for a select few. Yet another feather in our cap, the prestigious award is an outcome of Vedanta’s good showing and an unflinching focus on safety, sustainability and competence. The icing on the cake is the timing of the award, which coincided with the silver jubilee year of Vedanta’s leadership, excellence and innovation. Not the ones to rest on our laurels, we perceive the award as a cornerstone for further improvements in systems, processes and protocols.”

The award testifies and underlines Vedanta’s efforts to develop and implement efficient Management Systems and Procedures, which translate into exceptional performance in Occupational Safety and Health. It is worth mentioning that Vedanta’s Pig Iron Plant maintained a Zero Injury record throughout the assessment period ranging from 2013 to 2015. As such, the award endorses the global diversified natural resources company’s mission for Zero Harm, along with governance and sustainable development.
