After spending two decades in the banking and financial industry, Stephen Souky wants to turn his attention to coaching youth basketball teams. Stephen graduated from the State University of New York, Fredonia with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Accounting in 1992. The following year he passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and entered the financial and banking industry. He gradually built up a solid career in accounting and held several top posts. For several years, he worked with KPMG and gained valuable audit experience, his attention to detail and keen knowledge of accounting principles allowed him to quickly rise to the top. During the twenty years he worked in the financial industry, he occupied senior level management posts, serving as Controller or Finance Director.

Stephen Souky started playing basketball when he was in school and developed a passion for the game. Sports have always held a special place in his life, and he has invested a major portion of his time and resources to the development of basketball. Stephen is the President of Niskayuna Girls Travel Basketball team and AAU programs. He was also the head coach of the Junior B team. His interest in the sport led him to coach the team and lead them to an undefeated regular season, including the Capital District Girls Basketball League championship. Stephen believes being active in sports can help build a person’s physical and mental health, and help them to develop strong team player skills that can be used later on in life.

After building a successful career in the financial industry, Stephen plans on spending more time working with his passion – basketball. He has vast experience in the game and knows how to work with young people and train them to become better team players.

Stephen Souky currently works as a Controller at MHC, a cable service provider in the Columbia/Greene counties of New York. He recently won the President’s Award for outstanding contribution to overall company objectives.
