Substitute teacher Lora Schwacke off to a great start this school year as a substitute teacher for the Waldwick Board of Education.

Lora Schwacke has lived in New Jersey her entire life. She moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey in 1985 with her husband Arthur and has worked in one of the surrounding communities in one capacity or another ever since. She spent the first twenty years of her professional life working as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for a long list of local businesses, helping them stay afloat in the community with her deft book-keeping and auditing skills. She retired from her career as a CPA so that she could contribute to her community in a different way: by substitute teaching. This school year, Schwacke entered her sixth year teaching for the Waldwick Board of Education in middle and high schools in the Waldwick School District. She is excited by how well the year is going already for her and her students.

Lora Schwacke earned a reputation for working with students who need the most help. This desire to work with special needs and ESL students is rare in a substitute teacher, and Schwacke is off to a great start this year with the children in her middle and high school class assignments. Schwacke has experience teaching in all academic subjects and many different settings. She loves working with all kinds of students who want to learn and improve their academic skills. She says that the students are happy to work with her on improving their academic and life skills this year in the Waldwick School District.

Lora Schwacke has loved her career as an educator. Long before she earned her substitute teaching license, she became a Certified Childbirth Educator specializing in the Bradley Method of natural childbirth techniques. She has been educating women on how to have a healthy, all-natural, drug-free childbirth experience since 1990, after successfully using the techniques during the birth of her first daughter in 1988. She used the method to great effect for the birth of her second daughter in 1991, and has educated many mothers and fathers on how to have a healthy, relatively pain-free, all-natural childbirth.

With her penchant for educating mothers and students, Lora Schwacke plans on continuing her great work in her community in and around Wyckoff, New Jersey.
