For Jim Huneke, it is almost hard to believe he's been at this for so long – after all, twenty five years is a very long time. Yet that is how long it has been since Jim Huneke first joined the United States Tennis Association as a young and rising tennis star. Since that time, Jim Huneke has gone on to some great successes, but he never forgets where he came from.

Young Jim Huneke’s tennis career began when he was 11 and newly signed up for lessons. He quickly took a shine to the sport and has never looked back. Jim Huneke’s natural talents combined with instruction from his mentors helped mold Jim Huneke into a high-level talent in the sport, resulting in some victories and success in his younger years. Jim Huneke rode those successes and turned them into a career as a tennis coach, which he has been doing at various levels for fifteen years now. In addition, Jim Huneke is a USPTA member who has held positions as resident pro at various athletic clubs and tennis clubs in the Midwest, particularly Minnesota and Illinois.

Jim Huneke is passionate about tennis and about the athletic instruction of today’s youth. “Tennis and sports have been very good to me over the past 25 years,” Jim Huneke was quoted as saying. “I like to think that what I do now is to pass those benefits on to the next generation. Coaching and teaching youth sports and youth tennis is a great opportunity for me, and I really feel as though it makes a difference.”

Jim Huneke is also a long-time P.E. teacher who has been consistently noticed for his outstanding work in the subject. In fact, in 2007 Jim Huneke was awarded Physical Education Teacher of the Year, an honor he holds quite highly.

In addition to his long tennis career and his job as a P.E. teacher, Jim Huneke has been a youth hockey referee for almost as long. These activities combine to make Jim Huneke quite a busy man, but he doesn’t mind. “I like to stay busy,” Jim Huneke was quoted as saying. “It’s a good feeling.”
