Chuan-Fu Wu is an expert in waste management, nuclear safety, and project management who was certified as a highest level (Level 4) Federal Project Director in 2006. In the Department of Energy, a Level 4 certification is required for Federal Project Director who manages projects with a value of more than $400 M. Throughout his 11 total years of service with the Department of Energy, Chuan-Fu Wu was the honored recipient of 12 distinct awards for his outstanding work performance and professional contributions to the agency. Regarding his recent praise for these achievements, Chuan-Fu Wu had this to say: “I am deeply honored by the appreciation of the Department of Energy and my peers.”

Professional development, as well as ongoing training and education, have been important to Chuan-Fu Wu throughout his career. In addition to a doctoral degree in Nuclear Engineering from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute (MIT), Chuan-Fu Wu also earned a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of New Mexico. Chuan-Fu Wu has been certified by the American Board of Health Physics as a Certified Health Physicist (CHP), and by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP). Chuan-Fu Wu has become a well-known expert and a respected leader in his field because of his efforts to strive for professional excellence and complete ongoing trainings and certifications. The Department of Energy, in recognition of Chuan-Fu Wu’s efforts to further his education and his demonstrated leadership skills, have honored him with five Special Act or Service Awards, six Special Organizational Achievement Recognition (SOAR) Awards, and an Appreciation Award.

Chuan-Fu Wu received the Department of Energy’s Appreciation Award for his outstanding leadership contributions while serving as champion for the DOE Integrated Safety Management System between 2005 and 2008. Regarding the multiple awards he has received, Chuan-Fu Wu had this to say: “The Department of Energy has been a great place for me to truly grow as a professional. I am very appreciative of the opportunities and the supports I have received to accomplish my duties and assignments.”

Currently, Chuan-Fu Wu manages a small business in South Carolina. The focus of his efforts is to support federal nuclear facilities and the nuclear industry to ensure protection of the public, workers, and the environment. Additionally, Chuan-Fu Wu’s business provides a boost to the local economy by offering employment opportunities.
