Charles Hodge MD: Making Great Strides in the Field of Neurosurgery

Charles Hodge MD is a successful neurosurgeon who has made a great impact in his field over the course of his career.

 
Charles Hodge MD is a highly qualified professional within the neurosurgical field. He began his career as an undergraduate student at Princeton University. From there, he went on to the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he graduated in 1967. Charles Hodge MD completed his surgical internship at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, one year of surgical residency at the Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, and his neurosurgical residency at the Health Science Center in Syracuse. He also worked as an Honorary Surgical Assistant at the London Hospital in White Chapel, London. Charles Hodge MD received his certification from the American Board of Neurological Surgeons in 1997.

Charles Hodge MD spent most of his career in the academic environment, working at the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He worked in the SUNY Health Science Center's Department of Neurosurgery as an Assistant Professor from 1975-78, an Associate Professor from 1978-82, a Professor from 1982-09, a Vice-Chairman from 1985-88, and a Chairman from 1988-07. Charles Hodge MD currently works for the SUNY Upstate Medical University as a Professor Emeritus of Neurosurgery. From 2010-11, he worked as a Visiting Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland.

Charles Hodge MD is highly competent within his field of expertise and is an authority in a number of areas. Some of his areas of specialization include cortical plasticity, functional magnetic resonance imaging, cortical localization and language, cortical optical imaging, excitotoxicity, and cortical protection. Some of his areas of clinical interest include cranial nerve syndromes, frameless stereotaxy, Chiari malformation and syringomyelia, cortical localization, and stereotactic radiosurgery.

For his continued standard of excellence, Charles Hodge MD has been bestowed with a number of honors and gained entrance into a number of professional organizations. He is a proud member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Massachusetts Medical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Society of Neurological Surgeons, American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, and Society of University Surgeons. Charles Hodge MD has been recognized with the Society of Neurological Surgeon's Grass Prize and Medal for Research in 1987 and Distinguished Service Award in 2012. In 2009, he was an honored guest at the New York Neurosurgical Society. Charles Hodge MD currently works as a Chief Medical Officer at vCases.
