"There was a documentary about Providence St. Mel School called 'The Providence Effect' and in the 1980's President Reagan was impressed with the school," says Providence St. Mel School's representative. The school also received a million dollar grant from Oprah Winfrey.

The students attending Providence St. Mel School receive a top-notch education from excellent teachers. After becoming an independent institution, ineffective teachers were replaced with educators that possessed advanced degrees or in some cases, doctorate degrees. "As an independent school, our students benefit from a smaller class size,” said a Providence St. Mel School representative. “The average class size remains around19 students with a 15 to 1 student-teacher ratio."

The college-prep school educates preschool to 12th grade with some junior and senior classes teaching at college level. "Our system is driven to provide excellence; that is why 100% of students go on to college and why our students' test scores are repeatedly above national average," said the representative.
