Planable, a social media collaboration platform, just launched Social Teams 100. It’s a list top celebrating the top 100 companies who hired most social media professionals in 2020, against all odds. It’s quite interesting to look at all these companies and realise that other things happened in 2020. Not just the pandemic.

Besides the top itself, the campaign also highlights a few intriguing stats. For example, the most popular city for social media people being New York. It hosted over 10% of all new social media jobs last year. Another striking fact is the most popular titles of the jobs filled in 2020. 11.9% of these contained the word “Manager”. Is the social media world in great need of more seasoned marketers?

September seemed to be the best month in terms of new roles filled in social media. Does that mean that most jobs are posted during the summer? It’s definitely something to keep an eye out for.

The top includes quite a few well-known brands that were simply bound to show up. But some new names seem to come up too. Taking a look at those who grew most in terms of percentage brings up some exciting agencies and smaller brands. Social media professionals should definitely bookmark those companies.
