There are millions of overweight people around the country trying desperately to lose weight to get back into shape. Or at least, to get back into a dress two sizes shorter than they are wearing right now. Most people have realized that to look attractive and sexy in the eyes of the opposite sex, they need to be slim and trim. When half of the population is obese trying to lose weight somehow, it is only natural for weight loss to take the shape of a multibillion dollar industry. There are scores of products available in the market to help people lose weight.

However, despite most obese people trying to lose weight and making use of various products and techniques available in the market and n different websites n the internet, it is a fact that there are today more overweight people n the country than there were a few years ago. What this means is that extreme weight loss methods such as diet regimes and rigorous workouts can lead to a reduction in the weight of a person although there is no loss of fat from the body of the person. Confused? You are not to blame as many people do not understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss.

It is Possible to Lose Weight Without Losing Fat
Not many people are aware of the fact that losing weight is possible without losing fat from the body. This is achieved or takes place when there is reduction in bone density or there is a muscle tissue loss from the body of an individual. It is a fact that when people get frightened by their weight, most of them start on a weight loss program. People are hurt when they step on the dreaded scale or when any one close to them comments on their appearance. Any extraordinarily fat person, when he starts on a weight loss program is delighted when he loses weight fast in the initial period. Most of the weight loss in the initial part of any dieting or exercise based weight loss program is a result of loss of water and some fat loss.

Lose Fat and Not the Muscle or Bone Density
Most people who starve themselves of food in a bid to lose weight find that they regain most of the weight lost in this fashion with a few months time once they are back to their old merry ways of eating. If one understands the definition of weight, he would find that his total body weight is the combined weight of his bones, muscle tissues, fat, organs, and water inside his body. Most of the so called crash diets cause a reduction in weight of water, muscle tissues and even bones making a person feel tired and exhausted.

Fat refers to excess layers of skin that gets deposited on arms, waist, belly, thighs and other parts of body and fat loss is what people want to achieve when they start on any weight reduction regime. Fat loss automatically results in los of weight leading to desirable body shape.
