Trenitalia, the national railway company in Italy, operates several types of trains which serves different cities and towns in the country. Travelling in Italy is all about experiencing its romance, history and culture. Some will prefer the fashion boutiques of Milan, or the romantic canals of Venice, whereas others will prefer exploring the antique vestiges of Rome.

An excellent way to reach the above cities, is by using the excellent high speed network of Italy and trains operated by Trenitalia.

The city of Milan, which can be easily reached from Switzerland in just 1 hour by train, is an excellent destination to visit. Taking the high speed Frecciarossa train operated by Trenitalia, from Milan, travellers can reach Rome, the Italian capital city. Rome is one of the most popular cities in the world, reminiscent of a glorious past and Roman empire.

"All roads lead to Rome." This well-known proverb opens a world of possibilities for travellers. Visitors can follow the footsteps of Augustus or Caesar to discover the Roman architecture. Artistic souls can of course follow the footsteps of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci to perform an artistic pilgrimage!

Or maybe other travellers will prefer to discover a Rome which simply charms lovers as well as visitors. Without any doubt though, Rome has much more to offer - the seven hills, simply enjoying an espresso on the steps of the Spanish square or sipping a glass of chianti in a small square. The many and various charms of Rome are easily accessible thanks to the train services of Trenitalia.

The trains operated by Trenitalia and other international trains have the Roma Termini Railway station (Stazione di Roma Termini) as departure or arrival station. Over 150 million passengers transit at the Roma Termini Railway station every year, making it one of the busiest and largest train station in Europe. Trenitalia trains such as Eurostar Italia, InterCity and InterCity night serve the railway station.
