The survey yielded interesting results with respect to the thought process of Indian students during the pandemic.

With the use of the latest Ai technology, students are matched with the best-fit advisor based on their requirements.

With the current pandemic situation, which is still very prevalent but lesser than before, Zoom Abroad wanted to reach out to Indian students to understand their thoughts about studying abroad. Needless to say, the pandemic put many of our dreams on hold and that applies to Indian students as well. 71% of these students agreed that the pandemic is a major roadblock for them to pursue their higher education abroad even though they want to. The pandemic not only brought about a safety concern for many students, it was also financial decision making, the delay in results of their previous qualification& travelling restrictions. Etc. An interesting finding was to understand the biggest motivation for Indian students to study abroad. 54% said that better career prospects are their motivation, 16% said they would like to have a globally recognized degree from a reputed university, 11% said they would like to get international exposure to help them grow both personally as well as professionally, 10% said the availability of shorter duration courses are their motivation and 8% said that immigration was their prime reason to study abroad.

There are many misconceptions due to lack of knowledge regarding studying abroad. One such myth is that only financially sound people can afford to study abroad. In addition to this, 66% of Indian students believe that only students who have scored 90% and above would be eligible to apply for any kind of scholarship to study abroad. In reality, this is not true. There is a scholarship option for everyone and anyone.
Lack of knowledge and research is a major reason for students to consider having an advisor who can help them meet their requirements. Having a mentor has proved to be beneficial in many ways. The top CEOs of the world currently have also had mentors help them in achieving their goals. When asked about wanting to have an advisor to help them with their career goals, 64% of the Indian students said they would like to have one and 18% said they could consider having a mentor. Zoom Abroad has served over 50,000 students globally by helping them meet their best-fit advisor.

“I really feel lucky to have had the guidance of my advisor from Zoom Abroad who helped me get accepted into one of the most prestigious universities, University of Edinburgh, to pursue MSc Biotechnology.
