WASHINGTON, D.C. May 20, 2013 – Tomorrow, Jennifer Bisceglie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Interos Solutions, Inc (Interos),will testify before Congress on the importance of proactive measures to keep counterfeit materials out of our nation’s critical infrastructure. The hearing will be held by the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, titled "Cybersecurity: An Examination of the Communications Supply Chain."

"Cyber security includes managing the risk from the beginning of the supply chain to the end of it. It is not as simple as installing virus software—we need to look deep within our business processes and contractual language. We need to take the time to understand who we’re doing business with, through the multiple layers of global sourcing. The need for a higher level of awareness about the risk, and how each person in the acquisition cycle plays a role, cannot be stressed enough”, said Ms. Bisceglie.

Some of the areas Ms Bisceglie suggested the Committee consider: (1) universal awareness and education supported by the executive teams of agencies; (2) adequate funding for cybersecurity programs and assigning ownership within the agency establishing measurements for success; (3) investing in securing critical infrastructure cannot be achieved by contracting with the lowest-price bid and (4) put in place contractual language that works.

As a leader and innovator in the supply chain risk business community, Ms. Bisceglie has over 20 years of experience in this industry. In addition to being President of Interos, she is also the Chair of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), a leader in the National Defense Industrial Association’s (NDIA) Cybersecurity Division, and an expert advisor for the International Cybersecurity Dialogue.
