The Peterson Group under Fire for Positively Reporting on Homeopathy

Posted December 18, 2015 by tpgwellness

The Peterson Group is globally run by both physicians of conventional medicines and homeopathic doctors including chiropractic experts and oriental practitioners.

For the past three years, The Peterson Group, a leading source of information about alternative, complementary and integrative medicines, has claimed neutrality on their reports on any treatments which does not undergo scientific experimentations and FDA approval especially on the topics relating to homeopathy, a 200 year old medical treatment which is the most basic rival of conventional medicine, or what homeopaths call as allopathic treatment.

However, in the past couple of months, the topics, which should have revolved around both negative and positive views on homeopathy, seem to only center on the good effects of the practice to human beings. Even when the conflict has started between Wikipedia and homeopathy, the organization only took the side of the latter, reporting extreme prejudice against Wikipedia founder, Jimmy Wales. From the articles entitled, “Wikipedia under Fire for Writing against Homeopathy”; “The Peterson Group Review: Wikipedia Founder Tirades against Homeopathy” to “Tricks that Leads to Supporting Homeopathy”, critics review the views as “bias” and “against the values that were implemented in the organization”.

The Peterson Group is globally run by both physicians of conventional medicines and homeopathic doctors including chiropractic experts and oriental practitioners. While the complaints were started in the middle of the year, members who are from the oriental part of the world has stood aside to let the Western members settle their arguments and debates as the United States and United Kingdom are the only ones reported to have negative reviews on homeopathy. However, as the issue prevailed and homeopathy is given emphasis, neutrality is slowly being ignored between members. The experts who have signed up themselves in the organization eventually delved into the problem, each with their own point to share. From the Buddhists members of Bangkok, Thailand to Muslims of Jakarta, Indonesia, the members eventually joined the fray.

Some members chose to leave the group which, as one anonymous member points out, “…has been full of politics ever since FDA issued a warning against homeopathy last April”. It can be remembered that Food and Drug Administration has reviewed the regulations implemented on homeopathy in the United States last April 20-21, 2015.

A wide review carefully evaluated the conflict conducted, both in terms of quality of opinions. The subject of external validity is of special importance because some scientists and physicians conduct research on homeopathy with little or no understanding of this type of medicine (some studies tested a homeopathic medicine that is rarely used for the condition tested, while others utilized medicines not commonly indicated for specific patients).
