Dalhousie and Munnar are thousands of miles away from each other. Dalhousie is a hill station in the state of Uttarakhand in the north and Munnar is another summer tourist area right down south in Kerala. But both these places are so pretty that someone visiting India may want to cover both of them in one go. By selecting the places to visit in Dalhousie and the places to visit in Munnar one can plan their itinerary to accommodate both these hill stations.

Dalhousie is for those that want lots of peace and quiet; Dalhousie is for those that want to enjoy virgin nature; Dalhousie is for honeymooning couples – it is a place to relax and remove all stress in life. With its acres of greenery and the old world charm of the British era Dalhousie is indeed one of the best hill stations in India.

There are not too many places to visit in Dalhousie and this is where the charm of the place lies. All you want to do here is walk around the place – enjoy the fast moving streams and wet your feet in their water or enjoy a hiking trip around the small town. The trek from Dalhousie to Khajjiar is about 22 km and it is one of the best trekking stretches in India. You will need to walk for at least 5 hours but you will feel a few years younger after you are through.

Although there are other places to visit in Dalhousie like the Bhuri Singh Museum you would probably also want to visit the Tibetan market for some authentic Tibetan stuff. And if you want to do nothing then simply stare at the clear sky to gaze at the stars. You will feel a strange sense of serenity encompassing your soul.

On the other hand there are plenty of places to visit in Munnar. The old world cottages and bungalows of Chithirapuram, the history of tea production shown in the Tea Museum, elephants and sambhars at the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, the Rajamalai National Park and the niche dairy farm at Mattupetty are definitely worth visiting.

And if you only want to enjoy nature then also there are places to visit in Munnar that are better than anywhere else in the world. Winters at the Top Station and the Echo Point leading up to it are like heaven on earth. And you get more heaven as you reach Devikulam, a place of the greenest of views about 7 km from Munnar. Exploring the tea estates and fishing in the streams are activities that you will enjoy here. Even the sandalwood factory at Marayoor and its greenery will make you fall in love. And of course, you must see the Atukkad Waterfalls.

Plan your itinerary in such a way that you are able to explore the places to visit in Dalhousie as well as the places to visit in Munnar. This is when your India trip will be worth talking about back home.
