It’s starting to feel a bit cliche to start this post off every month raving about just how much incredible new music RnB & Soul artists are pumping out. But we can only tell it how we see it! The past month’s been another month of the well of great new-age Soul continuing to overflow. We’re back with a playlist of new tunes to celebrate.
May brought EPs & albums definitely worth giving a spin from Melo-Zed, Cherri V, Kara Marni and Jorja Smith. Damn-near cult favourite, The Internet continue to tease their sophomore album, Hive Mind, with a new single (and video), Come Over. The video, directed and edited by Syd herself, serves suburban ’90s throwback, chilled out vibes, complete with hilarious moments and a cameo from Buzzfeed’s Quinta Brunson.
We’ve also got a track on the playlist from David Davis, a brand-spanking newcomer producer who’s released his debut single, After Loss. The track is filled with some delicious transitions and beat layering. Can’t get enough of it!
Another FRESH FIND is Kyan, Londoner gearing up to release his debut album. Kyan’s COLORS performance of Like Summer, BBC 1XTRA’s Record of the Week, is quickly building all kinds of steam.

Mood: The Music We Couldn’t Stop Playing in March ’18
March came round and really turned on the tap on dope musical releases in Soul music. Much (and deservedly) hyped was the return of the Swedish-Gambian Soul pop officianado, Seinabo Sey. Sey returned with a double-single release that unveiled two sides of the powerhouse singer-songwriter.
Speaking of powerhouses, you have to check out the vocals on Black & Gold where London up-and-comer, Malika, follows up her ’90s-… Songs About C EP with her most powerful vocal performance yet.
We also got a sublime slice of Neo-Soul goodness from Cleo Sol whose making all kinds of waves. Her COLORS Studio show has racked up over 450,000 YouTube views in just over 2 weeks and continues to pick up pace. Earlier in the month, she released a 4-track EP, Winter Songs.Winter Songs is a must-hear if you like the sound of a 2018 re-invention of Erykah Badu and Sade.
This month’s playlist has also got some uptempo Caribbean-inspired bangers from the likes of Mabel and Rachel Foxx for your ‘get hype’ moments.
