He achieved a great deal of success in both careers – films and martial art. It wouldn’t be exaggeration to state that he is the most significant martial arts exponent of all time.

While being a student of University of Washington, he studied drama and philosophy both. He had an extensive library and he was well-read. Lee’s books on martial arts and fighting philosophy are known for their philosophical proclamations in both inside and outside of martial arts circle. His eclectic philosophy often mirrored his fighting credences, though he was quick to claim that his martial arts were solely a metaphor for such edifications. He believed that any knowledge eventually led to self-knowledge, and said that his chosen technique of self-expression was martial arts. Known as Jeet Kune Do (JKD), this style of fighting was a result of Lee's philosophy and fighting techniques. It translated as “The Way of the Intercepting Fist”, this style of fighting is very quick and flexible yet exceptionally powerful. JKD practitioners believe in minimal movements with maximum effects and extreme speed. Once he developed Jeet Kune Do, Lee's popularity ascertained that many people were alacritous to learn it. The kept teaching it to keep his legacy alive. At some level, Lee has some reservations about sharing his secrets with the world that they may be replicated and diluted; however, after his death, her widow Linda made available all his remaining techniques to the world.
