FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles, CA (July 25, 2014) - The paper business card is one of the last bastions of analog data in this digital age that we live in. And it doesn't have to be. With the technology that we have now, the paper business card has become more of a hindrance than a help. We design & create business cards in digital format, convert it to paper, then try to convert it back to digital format. The process of designing, creating, giving, receiving and using a business card is now inefficient and needs to be revisited. Why, you ask?

Well, to give you an idea, here is the process in more detail:

We hire business card designers who use Illustrator or Photoshop to create a digital card design, or we go to Vistaprint or Moo.com and create a digital card design ourselves.

In both cases, the digital card design contains our contact information in digital format. However, we do not keep this information digital. Instead, we insist on creating paper cards to pass around.

We then shove this paper at everybody and they go and struggle to get it back into digital format - by having to manually type in the contact info or by using a card scanner, most of which aren't accurate.

It's a highly inefficient and wasteful process.

A campaign on Kickstarter for the WebCard digital business card and the MoveShake system aims to provide the solution to this problem. Here is the link to the campaign: http://kck.st/UoiL0T

The campaign is to fund a project to build the MoveShake digital business card system which includes mobile apps for both Android and iOS platforms and a central website to host a design environment, framework and tools, tutorials and guides for web designers to design & create interactive WebCards.

A WebCard is essentially a mini website that functions as a digital business card. It is contained in a zip file that you give to people. The recipients of WebCards view & store them in the MoveShake mobile app. A WebCard uses industry standard web design technologies such HTML, CSS and JavaScript to present an interactive digital graphical user interface (UI). A WebCard may have navigation buttons or tabs that allow the card viewer to go from one screen to another, active links that allow the viewer to launch a smartphone's dialer or email client, functions to redirect the viewer to the contact's website or social media account, and active screen widgets that animate images, or slide or scroll images across the screen.

A WebCard is easy to give to someone. You can email or text/SMS it. Or you can pass it via NFC (near field communications) or even via acoustic signals (to support iPhones).

WebCards eliminate printing costs for the owner and card scanning costs or manual input time for its recipients. A business can save a significant amount in printing & graphic design costs by creating a WebCard template that its employees can use with the MoveShake system. A WebCard template can also lessen wait time associated with having to send a print job to the printers. The interactive nature of the card would create a positive & favorable impression on its recipients and will allow it to hold more information than a static paper card. This element of the WebCard is quite attractive to creative types and sales professionals who can benefit from the ability of the WebCard to present interactive graphics and information that a static paper card cannot. And since a WebCard is digital and contains standard vCard (.vcf) contact data format, your contact info can easily be imported or synced into Google Contacts,, Apple Address Book, and all other address books that use this standard format.

The MoveShake system is a complete ecosystem that includes a central website with web design tools to create & design WebCards and a mobile app to view & organize received WebCards as well as send one's own WebCards. The mobile app also provides templates and layouts to create basic design WebCards, similar to the functionality in Vistaprint or Moo.com.

There are many advantages and benefits of the MoveShake system over existing digital business card products. One of the most exciting ones is the open API and framework which allows web designers to create unlimited WebCard designs. This is in stark contract to existing digital business card products that only have vCard information superimposed over basic image backgrounds (some don't even provide image background functionality, just a background color). The website will have a complete WebCard design environment (the MoveShake Design Studio) that includes the API, the framework, and tools for web designers to design and create WebCards. Being able to create & design WebCards means that web designers will now have a new income stream. If you are a web designer, you can sell your WebCard design services to your existing clients whom you've done web design work for. It's an extra cross-selling opportunity. At the very least, if you're a web designer, wouldn't it be cool if you yourself have a new & innovative WebCard?

The MoveShake Design Studio provides a complete design environment (IDE) for WebCard design, including tools such as a project workspace manager, a multi-page management screen, a code editor, a code validator & design preview screen, image file uploader, a third party framework loader (for frameworks such as jQuery, Bootstrap, Font Awesome, etc) and a WebCard packager. The Design Studio also provides a framework and tools. The framework includes meta HTML, CSS and Javascript files that provide WebCard graphical presentation and navigation infrastructure. The meta HTML file provides the master HTML and BODY tags for each page rendered & presented in the framework. This means the designer only has to write the HTML code inside the BODY tag, and any CSS and Javascript code used by the HTML code.

The framework also handles the loading & use of popular CSS and Javascript frameworks that help with web design, such as Bootstrap, jQuery, and Font Awesome. It also provides a security infrastructure to prevent rogue code from executing on a user's mobile device.

For most people, the most exciting piece of the MoveShake system is the MoveShake app. The app will allow users to design & create their own WebCards (via preloaded card templates & layouts), send or give out their WebCards, as well as receive, store & organize WebCards they have received. A contact's WebCard can be viewed in its full graphical design glory, not just a bland vCard contact data screen. Since WebCards are interactive, clicking on an active phone number on a WebCard will launch the phone's dialer, while clicking on an active email address will launch a smartphone's email client or be saved to the phone's address book or Contacts database. A WebCard can also have active links or buttons to the WebCard owner's social media links and website. In future versions, the MoveShake app will allow the user to sync contacts with other devices.

Using the MoveShake app, a user can give their WebCard via email, SMS/Text, acoustic/sound signals, or via NFC if the other user also has the MoveShake app. NFC tags or stickers can be used on paper business cards, conference badges and desktop business card dispensers to enable the MoveShake app to recognize & read them. A person using an NFC enabled MoveShake app can just allow others to swipe their smartphone near their NFC enabled badge or card dispenser to receive their WebCard. Giving a WebCard to someone via acoustic sound signal will be one of the really cool features of the app. This method is very cross platform/device, and is great for iPhones (pre-iPhone6) since they don't support NFC. This functionality will be similar to Chirp.io (www.chirp.io).
