How To Schedule Post on Instagram To Maximize Reach and Engagement

Posted July 19, 2021 by recurpost

Unfortunately, Instagram itself doesn’t provide any feature to schedule posts natively. You need to pick up a social media scheduling tool that offers an Instagram post scheduler.

With so many social media platforms to manage, the overall tasks that digital marketing managers have to undertake is simply overwhelming. Instagram is one of the most popular sites that businesses rely on for marketing. Constantly creating content, deciding captions, finding out the best time to post, and monitoring results is a struggle, to say the least. And scheduling your Instagram posts in advance will take away this struggle.

Unfortunately, Instagram itself doesn’t provide any feature to schedule posts natively. You need to pick up a social media scheduling tool that offers an Instagram post scheduler. An ideal one will allow you to bulk schedule Instagram posts in advance, keep your content organized in libraries, see detailed reports of account performance, and let you collaborate with your team to work together.

Let’s first see why you should consider using an Instagram post scheduler.

Benefits of scheduling posts: -

1. Sort out a whole week/month in a day

This is one of the best benefits of automating Instagram posts. The main idea behind scheduling posts in advance is to sort out weeks’ or months’ worth of content at once. Shoot, create, or source the images, edit them, write captions, and schedule all of them in one batch according to your desired timings! Along with saving time, it will also save you from the stress of deciding what to post daily and keeping alarms to upload them manually.

2. Write while you feel creative

Coming up with Instagram captions is a challenge in itself. When you use a social media scheduler to schedule posts in advance, you don’t have the obligation to upload images and captions at the same time. You can upload and store your images, and write the captions whenever you feel creative. This gives you time to think about your perfect caption, decide hashtags, and include the correct call to actions.

3. Manage multiple accounts together

Using a social media scheduler, you will be able to schedule posts on multiple accounts at the same time. This is applicable not only for Instagram, but for other social media platforms too. Thus, you don’t have to upload the same pictures and copy-paste captions again and again on multiple accounts - you just need to do it once.

4. Always keep your profiles active

When you schedule Instagram posts in advance, there is no need to log in manually every time and upload. This keeps your profile always active. You can utilize this time to engage with your followers and target audience. By planning your content beforehand, you can create a sense of consistency and set an expectation for your audience for when they’ll see your posts.

5. Less distractions throughout the day

Social media, socially Instagram, can be one of the largest time wasters. You log in to upload a post, and find yourself scrolling the feed mindlessly for another hour or so. When you pre-schedule posts on Instagram, you will only check back once or twice in the entire day.

How to schedule posts using RecurPost’s Instagram scheduler : -

1. Sign Up for a RecurPost account

The first step would definitely be to sign up for a RecurPost account. Go to recurpost.com, enter your details, and start the 14-day trial to try out RecurPost. Using this social media scheduler, you will not be able to schedule posts on Instagram, but also schedule posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and GMB.

2. Connect your Instagram accounts

After creating a RecurPost account, the next step is to add your Instagram accounts. From the dashboard, click on the button saying ‘Add social accounts’, and a pop-up will appear. Select ‘Add business profile’ or ‘Add personal profile’ according to your requirements. You can also connect both of them one by one.

Next, you will be taken to the Instagram login screen (if you aren’t already logged in to your Instagram account on your browser). Log in to your account, give required permissions to RecurPost, and your account will be connected.

Don’t worry, RecurPost never stores or uses your credentials. The permissions are only required to schedule posts and upload them on your behalf.

3. Create one-off posts

One-off updates are the ones that will be posted on your Instagram accounts just once and will not go out in a recurring manner. From your dashboard, click on ‘Share a Post’ button.

In the pop-up that appears, fill in the details of your post. Upload images/videos, add caption, include hashtags, add emojis, or insert links. After adding all the details, you can see the preview by clicking on the eye button. Next, select the Instagram accounts and schedule it for your desired timings.

If you are not sure about when to post, simply select the option of ‘Auto-schedule for best time’. RecurPost will find out the best time to post on Instagram and upload your post accordingly.

4. Add content in libraries

Libraries are places where you can store and categorize all your content. 3 default libraries are made when you sign up for RecurPost. You can edit them, or delete them and create new ones. You can create recurring or non-recurring libraries.

Inside the library, you will see a lot of options to upload content in bulk. Upload bulk images, links, or text posts; Import content from a CSV or excel file; Import content from a website and set up an RSS feed; or Import content from a social account.

5. Set recurring schedules

After adding the content in libraries, the last step is to set recurring schedules to make the content go out on your accounts in a loop. Schedules can be added by going to ‘Your Schedule’ tab for that library and clicking on the ‘Add Recurring Schedule button’.

A pop-up window will appear, where you can select the frequency at which you want to post the content. For instance, if you set the frequency to Friday at 6 PM, your updates will go one by one every Friday at 6 PM. Select the timings and hit the ‘Add Schedule’ button. When all the updates in the library have been shared, the cycle will again start from the first one.

RecurPost will make your Instagram scheduling experience as smooth as butter. It lets you do a lot more than just scheduling posts in advance.
