Charles Mitchell of Lake Charles: Life Is What You Make It

Charles Mitchell of Lake Charles set his sights on living a different lifestyle and then made a change for the better.

Charles Mitchell of Lake Charles worked at a retail pharmacy branch for over five years before deciding to take his life in a different direction. Charles quickly become bored with many of the mundane tasks he was asked to complete in a retail pharmacy setting. Dispensing pills, filling prescriptions, giving advice to people who should really get checked out by a doctor; he started to get the feeling that maybe he had chosen the wrong career path. After talking with a colleague about the different paths that pharmacists can pursue, Charles thought that maybe it was time for him to travel down a different avenue of pharmacy, one that might take him out of the ordinary routine of a retail pharmacy position.

What Charles found was a job position that seemed almost too good to be true. Looking into Medication Therapy Management, Charles found that he could become a personal pharmacist for people who needed continuous pharmacy consulting and guidance.

Oftentimes, people who have chronic illnesses or conditions will require a sustained drug regiment that has them taking medication most days, if not every day, of their lives. Drugs have complex effects on the body because they essentially change how it works, meaning that if you are an individual taking drugs on a regular basis it might be a good idea to have a pharmacy consultant who can give advice and guidance as to which drugs you should consume and how often.

Charles Mitchell of Lake Charles knew that this path of pharmacy would, at the very least, propel him toward something new. After building a network of clients, Charles set out to be a personal pharmacist full time. It was a happy time for Charles, meeting new people, establishing connections; he even met a few high-profile clients through colleagues, giving him the opportunity to do more than he ever imagined.

Charles was often asked to travel with his clients that had chronic conditions and required continuous care. Charles would monitor blood levels and levels of drug consumption and give recommendations based on his client’s needs and reactions to the drugs. He would travel all over the world as a personal pharmacist, getting to practice his career passionately while at the same time getting to travel internationally and across the country.
