The Future Farmers of America is a national organization that helps agricultural education students discover their passions in life. Students who are involved with FFA are provided with useful insight to chart the future of their educations, careers, and personal futures. The organization has various local chapters scattered throughout the country, with one of them being located here in Daphne, AL. Recently, high school senior Catharine Hardyman was granted the title of president for the Daphne chapter.
Catharine Hardyman has been a long-time member of the organization and was thrilled to be appointed as the new president. Catharine Hardyman recently discussed her new position and goals for the future, she stated, “I was so excited to learn that I would be the new president of FFA. Last year I served as the chapter’s vice-president, and my ultimate goal was to eventually become president—but I never thought it would actually happen. I have always been interested in agriculture, and I hope to go to college and enroll in a related major following graduation. To me agriculture isn’t just about farming—it is a form of science and business.”
Catharine Hardyman is a senior at her high school located in Daphne, AL. Although Catharine Hardyman spends a lot of her time dedicated to FFA, she is also the captain of her swim team, an accomplished student, and a member of various professional organizations. Catharine Hardyman is also a dedicated member of the Community Action Board and the Youth Grant Allocation Board. Being a positive role model is important to Catharine Hardyman and she recently accepted the position as a Daphne High School Senior Mentor.
“After graduation I would like to go to college and pursue a degree related to agriculture or science. I am also a swimmer, so I hope to get a scholarship to a reputable university. I am thankful that FFA has prepared me for my professional journey after school. Due to my experiences with the organization I feel like I am ready to start my journey towards a successful career,” Catharine Hardyman stated.
