The Maddy Legislative Scholar Internship was established by the Kenneth L. Maddy Institute in order to provide California State University and University of California students with the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of government operations, the political process, and the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Every year, only about forty students are chosen for this unique opportunity. This elite group of students is chosen from the thousands of students who attend five of California’s largest state universities. Aldo Salinas, a graduate of California State University at Fresno, recently received praise for receiving the Maddy Legislative Scholar Internship during his undergraduate career.

As an outstanding student dedicated to his studies and professional responsibility, Aldo Salinas was overjoyed to receive the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the processes of state and local government. Regarding his receipt of the Maddy Legislative Scholar Internship, Aldo Salinas had this to say: “Participating in the Maddy Legislative Scholar Internship was a life changing experience.” Aldo Salinas, since childhood, has shown an increasingly strong interest in business, technology, politics, and the environment. As a compassionate individual with a bright mind, Aldo Salinas made the most of his internship during his academic career.

Aldo Salinas fulfilled his internship at local Assembly Member Henry T. Perea’s district office and gained hands-on experience of the day-to-day operations in this environment. Upon completion of his internship, Aldo Salinas’s dedication to excellence during his internship was rewarded with a scholarship and formal recognition from the Kenneth L. Maddy Institute. Aldo Salinas views his internship as a valuable part of his undergraduate education. As a result of participation in this internship, Aldo Salinas’s interest in government and public policy was significantly increased.

Currently, Aldo Salinas is focused on establishing his professional career and is humbled by the praise he has received from others for his scholastic accomplishments. With plans for an exciting future, Aldo Salinas looks forward to succeeding professionally and is preparing to pursue his Master’s Degree at California State University at Sacramento. When not working, Aldo Salinas enjoys educating others about the importance of preserving and restoring the environment and getting involved in the community.
