John Achten is one of the most experienced roofing contractors in the state of Washington. As an experienced roofing contractor and business owner, John Achten knows firsthand just how important it is to be philanthropically engaged with his community. Although John Achten and his company have been involved with a number of different charitable organizations in the state of Washington, one of his favorites was the company’s appearance on Extreme Home Makeover.

For those unfamiliar with the show, Extreme Home Makeover is a reality television show that builds new homes for families that have been deemed worthy. John Achten says that many families featured on the show are foster parents who have taken in unwanted children to their own financial detriment. During the show, companies like the one that John Achten owns build brand new homes. These companies donate their time, labor and materials.

“Being on Extreme Home Makeover was a life changing experience for me and for all of my employees,” John Achten recently said. “Although I have always known that there are families in my community that could benefit from this sort of thing, I had no idea just how much good we could do until I had the opportunity to appear on the show.”

John Achten is quick to point out that he “jumped at the opportunity” to appear on Extreme Home Makeover. In fact, John Achten says that charity is one of his top priorities as a small business owner.

“I believe that it is important for me to be involved in my community,” John Achten recently said. “In addition to appearing on Extreme Home Makeover, we have made an effort to work with Habitat for Humanity, the Adopt A Highway program and many other local charitable and philanthropic groups.”

John Achten hopes that other small business owners in the state of Washington will follow his lead and launch major philanthropic campaigns in their local communities. John Achten believes that charitable and philanthropic activities should be a top priority for any small business that is physically and financially capable of giving back to their local communities.
