James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City, an industry expert, recently sat down to discuss his experiences as a Marketing Director, CMO, and corporate Vice President.

James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City has been working in the restaurant, food & beverage industry for more than twenty years now. Along the way he has made stops at Proctor & Gamble, YUM! Brands, the Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, and now Sonic Drive-In. James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City has held a variety of different corporate leadership positions, including Director of Marketing for KFC Canada, Senior Director of Marketing for Pizza Hut United Kingdom, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC US, and now Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Sonic Drive-In. These positions have taught James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City a lot about life, business, hard work, and success.

“I have learned more than I ever dreamed I would. My jobs have taught me much more than how to just lead and deliver results,” James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City said. “I have learned how to interact with people, how to be a professional, and how to help others succeed,” James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City continued.

Success has been a common thread in James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City’s career. He has seen positive company growth in almost every position he has held. James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City helped test and launch multiple new menu items for KFC, including the incredibly successful Kentucky Grilled Chicken and KFC Snacker. The latter drove same-store sales up 5% in 2005.

“Success is a result of healthy collaboration and teamwork. That is something I have learned over the years. Right now I have responsibility for more than 45 people, and if I don’t communicate well with them, nothing will get done. Thankfully we have great lines of communication, and we are seeing successful results,” James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City said.

James O’Reilly of Oklahoma City has been the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Sonic Drive-In since March of 2012. He has contributed to six consecutive quarters of positive same-store sales growth and led one of the industry’s strongest advertising campaigns.
