Eric Pertnoy was settling into fatherhood when the call of writing became too strong to ignore. All those late nights sitting with a crying newborn baby made Eric Pertnoy think about his role in life as it was rapidly changing. There were no longer spontaneous road trips or late night movies. There were no more fancy dinners out or grown-up conversations. Now Eric Pertnoy and his wife worried only about diapers, feedings, and getting sleep whenever possible.

It was during that sleep-deprived state that Eric Pertnoy decided to chronicle his journey into fatherhood. This has obviously been done before and Eric Pertnoy was not planning on this to be a best-seller! He simply needed an outlet for all the changes going on in his life, and little did he know the stir he would create with his words.

“I was blunt and honest because I was writing for myself, really. I think that is why the “journal” turned into a book and then into the monstrous success it became!” says Eric Pertnoy. He wrote from the heart and young parents everywhere were able to relate to the joy and turmoil he described. One reader states, “When reading Eric Pertnoy’s book, I laughed and cried because I could relate to my own situations. I just nodded my head while I read about his experience watching the baby sleep the first night or leaving to go to work for the first time or rocking a shopping cart at the grocery store (with no baby in it)!”

Eric Pertnoy will continue to write as his only son grows and with each phase, he has plenty of material to work with. “Now that my son is older, the issues are different but still equally important to talk about. I think parents need to talk to one another and be honest. If we shared a bit more about our concerns, we would find comfort in that we are not alone,” says Eric Pertnoy. Eric Pertnoy is an author worth paying attention to, especially for young parents just starting out on the roller coaster ride of child-rearing.
