Safflower Oil Weight Loss and Safflower Oil

Whether safflower oil really helps in reducing belly fat has been a subject of a number of researches conducted by various agencies. If at all it does reduce belly fat, how does it work anyway?

A popular research that took place was conducted by comparing safflower oil with an organic compounded linoleic acid (CLA). The substance CLA has been in use for a long time as an agent to help weight loss. This particular research was conducted for sixteen weeks period for two such periods. The research was inconclusive as only 55 people could be persuaded to participate from which 20 dropped out midway. The drawback of the program was that the participants were women who were not only postmenopausal but were also suffering from diabetes of type II.

The results of the research left much to be desired because it was not able to establish how safflower oil will affect younger women. Further the comparison was done with CLA which is believed to enhance resistance to insulin. It is still not known whether safflower oil can be used on younger women of child bearing age. Therefore, it is felt that much research needs to be conducted on safflower oil for weight loss for young mothers before this can be used to lose mommy belly. So, new mothers should be careful about using this with the nutritional supplements that they might be taking. For the present if you have failed to shed fat through various diet plans and weight loss programs, you can try CLA which will help you lose some of the undesirable fats around your waist.

A somewhat conclusive research on CLA was done by Dr. Michael Pariza that was submitted to the American Chemical Society sometimes in 2000. He did the research in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The research concluded that CLA does not reduce the size of big fat cell as it is believed; instead it does not allow the tiny fat cell to grow any bigger.

Clinical trials done with CLA prove that it can fight against a lot of diseases related to aging including arterial disorders. Those interested in building their body use CLA to boost their muscle volume as it pushes glucose into muscle and such related tissues cells and prevent glucose from converting into body fat. CLA also helps reduce body fat and decreases degradation of protein which takes place with advancing age. This means that it helps you in maintaining healthier bodies making you look younger for an extended period of time.

If you are so particular about your health and want to prevent fat from building up in your body, you should be very particular about your diet. The fat that you should be taking should be of the Omega 6 fatty acids types that are found in vegetable oils. Along with this you also need to take Omega 3 fatty acids which are found in cold water fish. These two fatty acids are necessary for your health. Moreover when you are using oil for cooking you should prefer oils like coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and canola oil. Your diet should also include wild fish which should be taken 2 – 3 servings a week. You can try Alaskan Salmon which is not only full of Omega 3 fatty acids but is also very tasty.

On the other hand much research need to be done with safflower oil for weight loss before it can be used universally for weight loss. In the mean time you need to ensure that you take supplements that are genuine and have definite positive results to back them.
