As more and more people are becoming aware, the day of the internal combustion engine is drawing to a close. The amount of pollution that it causes has become widely known over just the last few years and the answer is to turn to the electric vehicle.

Governments around the world are planning to extend the use of electric vehicles as quickly as possible, and various dates are given for the abolition of petrol and diesel vehicles which may or may not happen on time. 2040 is not so very many years away and is one date that the UK government has suggested.

To that end, the UK government is helping people to buy electric vehicles by providing assistance for the installation of home electric vehicle chargers in the form of an OLEV grant from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles of £500 per charging point. You can also get an OLEV workplace grant if you provide chargers for your staff and customers, and as much as £10,000 may be available.

Furthermore, in Scotland you can get an additional grant of up to £300 from the Energy Savings Trust Scotland. What that all means is that you could have a home charging point installed by Jorro that costs £999 and get £800 of that paid from the grants available.

You can let your customers charge for free which costs you the price of the electricity but also keeps your customers on your premises while their vehicles are charging, and while they are there they will be spending. Indeed, many businesses with charging points will attract a lot of new customers for the simple reason that they offer free charging.
