Designer Jewellery making is an art of designing clay to craft it as an obsequious effigy. Even from the Stone Age, our ancient folks started to wear the jewels in different forms as per their conveniences.

5th June 2012 - Originality is a much valued commodity in today’s world of ceaseless duplication. In the jewellery market especially, this growing popular inclination towards unique, innovative ideas is most prominent. More and more people are turning towards Designer Jewellery Now.
The number of jewellery designers has risen and the market is flooded with uncommon, original and sometimes, downright bizarre designs, that are nevertheless gaining public admiration and approval. This kind of jewellery bridges the gap between traditional, expensive jewellery and cheap costume jewellery. It is crafted by talented designers who have been trained in metalsmithing, metallurgy, gemology and are also well-versed with the intricacies of design.
The materials used by the designers might vary from semi-precious simulated stones, synthetic gemstones, and set in silver, nickel, gold or even platinum. They usually employ a jeweller’s model made of wax or at times, even metal, to set the designs. These designs are then crafted on to the substance of the designer’s choice. The designer may choose to graft his/her initials, or brand logo into the piece of jewellery. Sometimes, the client decides on a design and the designer then works out if those patterns are feasible to be cast in the metal of the client’s choice.
These days, bold, contemporary and avant-garde designs are much in demand. Chunky choker necklaces (designed to draw attention to the shoulders and collarbone), floral patterned pendants and earrings, resin brooches and bangles, all these and much more are rapidly being acknowledged as the dominant trends in the jewellery market.
The designers can also be accredited with bring forth, unconventional materials that have hitherto, been absent from the general jewellery scene. Geodes, for example, are characteristically spherical globules, which have an accumulation of minerals lodged in the centre, the most common amongst these being pyrite or quarts.
Therefore, designer jewellery has carved a niche for itself. Who wouldn’t like to flaunt a pair of earrings, customized according to their preferences, or a brooch, inscribed with their initials? These pieces will grab anybody’s attention, owing to the ingeniousness of design and the dollops of creativity invested in them.
