Die beiden Lautsprecher befinden sich im vorderen Bereich der Base und sind nach unten zur Tischplatte hin ausgerichtet. Bei normaler Nutzung auf einer harten Unterlage hat es den Vorteil, dass der Sound problemlos reflektiert werden kann. Nachteilig ist jedoch der Gebrauch auf einer weichen Unterlage - hierdurch wirkt der Ton deutlich gedämpft. Bässe werden komplett ignoriert, und Medieninhalte wirken blechern. Die gebotene Qualität ist unterdurchschnittlich, und unsere Empfehlung ist der Einsatz von Kopfhörern oder externen Lautsprechern.

Die Energieaufnahme des Systems beträgt im Leerlauf 7,2 bis 12,6 Watt. Damit entspricht der gemessene Verbrauch dem vergleichbarer Geräte. Kurzzeitig gönnt sich das Slim 15 jedoch auch bis zu 45,5 Watt. Das übersteigt die Leistung des mitgelieferten Netzteils (maximal 40 Watt). Im weiteren Verlauf pendelt sich der Verbrauch unter Last jedoch bei 37 Watt ein. Das Netzteil ist relativ knapp dimensioniert, sollte aber im Alltag ausreichend Energie zur Verfügung stellen. Unter Volllast konnten wir ein Entladen des Akkus nicht feststellen.Der Hersteller gibt eine Akkulaufzeit von bis zu sechs Stunden an. Diese erreicht das Schenker Slim 15 nur im Idle-Betrieb. In unserem praxisnahen Wlan-Test musste das Testgerät nach 4:35 Stunden wieder aufgeladen werden. Immerhin ein passabler Wert in Anbetracht der guten CPU-Leistung und des hellen Displays. Die beiden Spitzenreiter haben eine deutlich höhere Akkukapazität. Als Zusatz sei noch erwähnt, dass das Schenker Slim 15 einen leicht zu entnehmenden Akku an der Hinterseite besitzt.

Heute sieht die Situation anders aus, denn seit dem Aufkommen der Ultrabooks sind auch größere Notebooks deutlich mobiler. Das wiederum hat den klassischen Subnotebooks die Existenzgrundlage zu einem Großteil entzogen. Die Entwicklung der ThinkPad X-Serie von Lenovo in den letzten Jahren kann dabei als ein schönes Beispiel für diese Transformation dienen. Noch vor fast fünf Jahren hatte Lenovo mit dem ThinkPad X230 ein traditionelles und sehr beliebtes Subnotebook auf dem Markt. Das X230 bot Standard-Voltage-Prozessoren (35 W TDP), zwei RAM-Slots, einen Festplatten-Slot, RJ45-Ethernet, einen Expresscard-Slot sowie erweiterbare Akkus. Zeitgleich kam auch das erste Ultrabook in der X-Serie auf den Markt, das originale ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2012, das all diese Features gegen ein dünneres Gehäuse eintauschte.
