One of the most frightening moments in George Butch Saunders' life came when his beloved fiancee, Nikki Simpson, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Breast cancer is a frightening disease that mostly affects females, but men can be diagnosed with it as well. No matter what sex gets it, it's most certainly a deadly disease that claims the lives of thousands each year.

"There's a moment of paralysis when a loved one gets the breast cancer diagnosis," admits George Butch Saunders. "You don't know where to turn to, where to start, where to get the best medical care and where to get support." This is where Lump to Laughter comes in, of which Nikki Simpson is now a board member.

Lump to Laughter is a Christian ministry that works to support those who have breast cancer and to share their stories. It is one thing to be able to get the medical care you need in order to get through breast cancer and hopefully come out the other side in remission, but finding spiritual help and companionship is very difficult. "Both Nikki and myself are people of faith," George Butch Saunders says. "That's why Lump to Laughter was so important to us - not only was there an empathetic community that worked with our needs, but there was also the spiritual solace that both of us needed during such a trying time."

Now that Nikki Simpson' breast cancer has gone into remission, many might think that she and George Butch Saunders would simply rest in relief, but this has not been the case. Both George Butch Saunders and Nikki Simpson have dedicated time and money into Lump to Laughter in hopes that others who are looking for the same spiritual community and support can be embraced.

"There is nothing more important than giving back to your community," George Butch Saunders asserts. "Community goes beyond the physical boundaries of your living space, however - there is community to be found n a group of people who band together with the same mission and cause. Myself and my fiancee were welcomed by the Lump to Laughter community, and we wish to make sure that it remains a safe, welcoming, and supportive community for others who need it. Nikki is now a board member for Lump to Laughter, and I couldn't be more proud."
