Jeffrey’s Bay is a world renowned spot for its beautiful beaches and the perfect waves. The town has been named after Captain Jeffrey’s, who is said to have sailed his cargo up and down the East coast of South Africa.

 
Captain Jeffrey was forced to land his vessel due to an epidemic scurry, this is how he found and realized the potential of the little town. He built the first house which has always been known as the “white house” and his family became the first white family to have stayed in Jeffrey’s Bay.

The town has unique features such as endless summers; abundant shells a reflexed life style and white gold (calamari) for visitors to enjoy.

Jeffrey’s Bay experiences moderate temperatures all year round, the summers are very warm and the winters are known to be mild and pleasant. International surfers are known to flock the area to experience the legendary waves.The town is a very popular destination for water sports activities, these activities are practiced all year round. Jay Bay as it’s commonly called by the locals is just a 1 hour drive away from the popular holiday city of Port Elizabeth.

For accommodation Jeffrey’s bay offers a wide variety of options from luxury guest houses, back packers, self-catering and game farms.

There are many activities to take part in and experience when in Jeffrey’s Bay, the small town is not only about water sports. They offer a wide variety of shops which reflect the diversity of local talents and the town’s history.

There are a number of small nature reserves in the area, such as the Kabeljous Estuary and Nature Reserve, The Noorsekloof Nature Reserve and the Seekoei River Nature Reserve.
