Iso 2603 Certified Interpreter Mobile Booth Prepared Following Suggestions From Aiic, Jsic To Provide Optimal Conditions For Simultaneous Interpretation

Hollywood, FL ( prfree.org ) September 20, 2013 - Williams Sound introduces interpretation mobile Booth Equipment, Interpretation Earphones, and Event Interpreter Headsets all following international standards specified by the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) and the Joint Service Interpretation-Conferences (JSIC) of the European Commission (EU) and ISO 2603 to satisfy the transportation and usage of mobile booths that are to be used in halls not equipped with built-in booths.

These mobile booths are mainly designed to be made use for a limited period of time over locations that require optimum sound-insulation and sound-absorption. The booths are designed to offer adequate sound insulation from disturbances outside the booth, like speakers from the neighboring booth, the main speaker at the hall and echoes from the inside. The difference between the sound pressure levels leaving the booth and reaching the booth should be maintained at the following frequencies: 250Hz for 12D, 500Hz for 15D, 1000Hz for 18D, 2000Hz for 20D, & 4000Hz for 20D. Whereas for the noise transmitted from booth to booth the difference in frequencies should be: 250Hz for 18D, 500Hz for 21D, 1000Hz for 24D, 2000Hz for 26D, 4000Hz for 26D.

The booth should always have anti-static sound-absorbing materials on inside surfaces and the reverberation time maintained to be 0,3 s and 0,5 s for octave bands from 125 Hz to 4000 Hz, following ISO 3382 standards. Ventilation for these booths is made perfect with air renewal of at least seven times per hour. The equivalent A-weighted sound pressure level inside the booth due to the ventilation system should not exceed 40 dB. Sufficient lighting is another important criteria and should be mounted on adjustable fittings at a lower range of between 100 lx and 200 lx and a higher above 300 lx, or provide continuous control from 100 lx to over 300 lx, measured at working surface level.

Interpretation Earphones/ Event Interpreter Headsets meet the ISO 2603:1998 standards and when more than two interpreters occupy one single mobile booth the use of one dual-control console is permissible, and one console for each interpreter is a compulsory preference. The Interpreters' microphones might be either mounted on a movable base or combined with headphones and one microphone is recommended for each interpreter.

Each of the interpreters occupying one single booth should be provided with a contended chair of adjustable height, adjustable back-rest, arm-rests, and castors producing no perceptible noise. The working surface of the mobile booth shall extend across the full width of the booth, made of shock-absorbent material to cut the entire noise that reaches from outside. The suggested dimensions of the working surface are as follows: Height: 0, 73 m +/- 0, 01 m from the floor, total depth: maximum 0, 50 m, and leg-room: minimum 0, 45 m.
