Since 1 July 2013, the Commonwealth Government assumed responsibility for the regulation of trainers offering Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Service of Gaming (RSG) courses.
As a result of this change, requirements for training course certificates has changed for the purpose of complying with relevant provisions of the Liquor Act and Gaming Machine Act.
A person is taken to have a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or Responsible Service of Gaming (RSG) certificate if the person has a Statement of Attainment for the relevant nationally accredited course, issued by a registered training organisation (RTO). Once a Statement of Attainment has been granted, neither the Liquor Act nor the Gaming Machine Act will require renewal of the training.
The Australian Skills Quality Authority requires RTOs to issue a Statement of Attainment to students who have successfully completed a training course. Previous students should be able to request a copy of the Statement of Attainment from the RTO where the training course certificate was issued, without being made to re-do the course.
