Being a professional technical writer, Betty Godwin Mackie holds a great expertise and wide knowledge in writing brochures, newspaper articles, manuals, and grant writing. She has worked as a trainer in English Language and literature, and is continuing writing at B and D Training Services. Currently, she is working as a technical writer with B and D Technical writing company.

Designing and overseeing five home renovations, Betty Godwin Mackie has always been involved in serving as a general contractor of the new kitchens. Besides, she works closely with the interior designers and the owners to choose the desired paint colors, cabinets, fixtures, hardware, and more. She also re-purposed fixtures for light, kitchen and bath. However, she had to face many challenges while working with the home renovation projects.

She started as a contractor while working with other contractors she hired. Initially, she worked on her own and repurposed many existing materials such as doorknobs antique hinges, stained glass windows and many more. She was also responsible for overseeing outdoor spaces along with sub contractors. Moreover, while working on various other projects, she encountered many problems such as water leaks, repair work, uncooperative contractors, and holding back of payments until completion.

In order to provide support with the improvement of health of babies and mothers, she supports March of Dimes; a nonprofit organization. She is also associated with a Breast Cancer foundation, namely Susan G. Komen. She is married to Chris Donovin, who is a licensed and certified Physician Assistant.

Pertaining to her education credentials, Betty attended the North Carolina State University and is a UNC Charlotte graduate in English literature. Later, she attended the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) where she received a degree in Liberal Arts. In addition, she has also received an award as trained educators in English literature.
