Aurora, Ohio, April 15, 2014 -- Boutique hotels are hot! Across the country, travelers are discovering the appeal of boutique hotels that offer unique experiences and more personal customer service. The Aurora Inn, a well-known fixture in the center of Aurora’s historic district, will receive a full makeover to capitalize on this trend.

The new owners, Aurora Hotel Partners, LLC, led by Dan Bliss, Stephen Mansfield and Matt Lopatin, intend to bring new life to the hotel through a renovation of its 69 rooms, restaurant, bar, lobby, ballroom and the hotel’s indoor and outdoor pools.

Bliss, who is originally from Aurora, believes the Aurora Inn can serve the region’s unmet demand for quality food, atmosphere and event spaces. He explains, “For many years, the Aurora Inn was known as a destination for great food and a vibrant bar. Sadly, that was lost over the years. We expect to turn that around and restore the hotel’s stature in Northeast Ohio.”

Mansfield was surprised by the level of support and desire of both residents and community leaders to restore the Aurora Inn to its glory days. He adds, “Thousands of people have attended weddings and events at the Aurora Inn, or they’ve dined with their families, or they’ve been members at the pools. There are so many memories here. Our team will restore the Aurora Inn in a way that pays respect to its long history, while also providing guests with the modern amenities of a luxury hotel.”

HGTV celebrity designer Genevieve Gorder will oversee the design of the hotel, adding her sense of style throughout the property. Cleveland-based architect David Krebs of AODK will work closely with Gorder and handle architectural duties.

Bliss, Mansfield and Lopatin have hired Riley Hotel Group of Medina to manage the hotel. Riley is known as an award-winning management company whose properties include the new Kent State University Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn in Mayfield Village and many other branded and unbranded hotels.

Joe Moffa, President of Riley Hotel Group, says, “The Aurora Inn is a gem with tremendous potential. Our role is to ensure that the property delivers excellent food, drinks, events and customer service. We are confident that our guests will have fantastic experiences here.”
