OCLV Carbon Technology + Other Features

The lightweight road-racing machines from the Trek Émonda line at The Yellow Jersey Bike Shop features the optimum compaction low void (OCLV) carbon technology. Unlike with other bicycle models, these road-racing machines’ carbon fibre and epoxy were compressed into an ultra-light but strong and stiff composite under extreme pressure. This inflates the air bladders to compact all of the carbon fibre layers together, which then leaves no air pockets and rids the models of added weight, voids and weak spots in the frame.

The bicycles from the Émonda line also feature a ride-tuned performance, which provides the right balance of stiffness and weight.

Émonda Sub-Series S, SL, SLR

The Trek Émonda line at The Yellow Jersey Bike Shop uses five different grades of carbon fibre, which vary in strength, weight, stiffness and cost. At one end of the spectrum is the 300 series carbon—the material making up the Émonda S sub-series. The models in this line, including the bestselling Trek Émonda S6 2016, boast a simplified and standard design.

The SL and SLR sub-series, on the other hand, use 500 series and 700 series carbon respectively. Both share many of the same design features. Despite the grade of the Émonda SLR line, it still affords less than 300g weight as it uses the highest-grade carbon.
