Rene Schillinger is an accomplished educational consultant in Poughkeepsie, New York. Since 2009, when he started his consulting firm, Schillinger Educational Consultants, he has been helping area schools improve literacy rates by training teachers in best practices when it comes to teaching reading, writing, comprehension, research writing, vocabulary acquisitions, and fluency. His work as a consultant has him working with a number of schools and school districts trying to improve the literacy instruction through reading, speaking, writing, and listening exercises. To help supplement the work he does with these schools, he also holds workshops and has held more than fifty presentations on the subject. Schillinger has also published several articles relating to education that has appeared in numerous publications around the United States.

Rene Schillinger is highly educated and experienced in education reform. He attended Lehigh University where he received his Bachelors of Arts degree in political science in 1988. Shortly after his graduation, he moved back to New York and enrolled at New York University to pursue his Masters. In 1993, he successfully completed the program, earning him his Masters of Arts degree in English Education. Wishing to continue his education, he enrolled at the Teachers College at Columbia University where he is a doctoral candidate in English Education. In 2003, he received a training certification in the Whole School Reform Model, granting him the ability to train others in the methods.

Rene Schillinger was born and raised in New York City. The son of two immigrant parents, he traveled a great deal during his childhood. He has been to Italy, Austria, Germany, Amsterdam, Holland, France, Russia, as well as other countries throughout Europe. When he is not working with schools and their teachers, he loves to sing and has even composed some of his own music. He also loves acting, performing in a number of shows in college. His hard work and dedication to education earned him two teaching awards from Teachers College in 2000 and 2001.
