Westervelt Lodge hosts Wingshooting for more than 40 years

Westervelt Lodge hosts an annual wingshooting event at their property in Alabama, which is rich in dove, quail, and turkey this is a very popular sport in the Southeast.

 
At the Westervelt Lodge property the caretakers have managed the land to preserve the wildlife and forest along the Tombigbee River. This management has proved very successful in maintaining the integrity of the wildlife and offering clients a natural hunting and wingshooting experience.

Wingshooting has been a tradition in the south since the mid-1700s and is an extremely popular sport. Hunters arrive from all over to stay in the lodges and take part in events, competitions, and guided hunts.

At the end of the 1970s Westervelt Lodge offered their first wingshooting school after adding a skeet and some trap fields. Since then, it has been known as a wingshooting lodge. Visitors come from all over the United States and beyond to practice their wingshooting and to stay at the lodge with their friends and families.

Wingshooting includes doves, quail, pheasant and in Alabama there are events and seasons for hunting. The qualified staff at Westervelt Lodge who are leaders in their industry can discuss the rules of the season to their guests. With quail shooting the maximum per bag is 15 birds.

Bookings at the lodge for wingshooting trips include professional guides, dogs, and field transportation. At Westervelt Lodge they understand that all guests are different and require their own unique needs. When guests want to go wingshooting alone with their own dogs this is also possible, and the staff can accommodate this request.

Wingshooting at the Westervelt Lodge in Alabama is an experience not to be forgotten the guides take their guests on a traditional plantation-style quail hunt. The dogs flush out the birds and there are multiple opportunities to take a shot and successfully fill their game bags.

They have a very advanced wingshooting quail program that is in place amongst the tall Southern pines and this hunting course is challenging.
