After completing the Head and Neck Imaging Fellowship, Wessam Bou-Assaly is now a proud fellow of the Indiana-based medical program.

Wessam Bou-Assaly completed the Head and Neck Imaging Fellowship, finishing what could be the first phase of his post-graduate training. The university currently has 11 other fellowships in the field of radiology. These include Body Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Breast Imaging, Cardiothoracic Imaging, Emergency Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Neuroradiology, Advanced Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Radiology and Pediatric Neuroradiology.

The Head and Neck Imaging Fellowship program was created to support the growing demand for this sub-specialty that includes the advanced imaging of the head and neck areas of the patients. The program was held in the Radiology Department, consisting of former fellows, who are now the members of the American Society of Neuroradiology.

The members of the faculty have a vast experience in the field of radiology, offering guidance to post-graduate students like Wessam Bou-Assaly so that they can learn the nuances of this important sub-specialty. Since head and neck injuries often involve the need to rely on highly diverse and complicated imaging technologies, it’s very important that the teachers possess real experience. This implies the presence of a highly relevant case history that can help those who try to earn this prestigious post-graduate certification.

This diverse collective experience that includes unique clinical cases is exactly what makes the Head and Neck Imaging Fellowship such a coveted program, and one of the more popular fellowships at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Now that he earned this post-graduate qualification, Wessam Bou-Assaly will work together with multiple medical experts, including but not limited to the best neuroradiologists in the region, as well as clinicians of the field.

From time to time, the cooperation will extend to other specialties too, like Medical and Radiation Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Neurosurgery. To be considered for the program, Wessam Bou-Assaly had to meet the following two criteria: being a candidate who already completed his radiology residency in one of the programs that had the proper accreditation, and having a year of fellowship training already under his belt. Having earned this distinction, he joins a group of enthusiastic medical professionals who are ready to leave their mark on the American radiology field.
