When you think of agriculture in Maryland, many images may come to mind: the local farmers market, corn mazes and visits to area farms. Known as agritourism, many families have come to enjoy the excitement of visiting local farms and the activities surrounding these trips.

But beyond the traditional farms, a new sector of agritourism has emerged vineyard tours. And nobody does wine tours like Vino 301 Wine Concierge. Established in January, 2013, Vino 301 introduces people to the world of wine production. With more than 60 wineries in the state of Maryland, there are plenty of wineries to experience.

When you tell people about the number of wineries and the locations, their eyes light up and they become immediately interested, says Ms. Leslie Frelow, owner and Managing Director of Vino 301 Wine Concierge. "They want to learn more.

Based in Bowie, MD, Vino 301 specializes in organizing winery tours which often include meeting the winemakers themselves. Guests are treated to a collectible wine glass and light snack during their tour, which includes transportation to and from the wineries and tasting fees.

During their first year, more than 400 people have enjoyed the services provided by Vino 301. Ideal for birthdays, corporate outings and even bachelorette parties, the wine tours visit local wineries in Baltimore-Harford counties, southern Maryland, and Frederick and Carroll counties.

Vino 301 plans to offer more regional wine tours and specialty tours, like Art and Wine tour, in 2014. On Valentine’s Day, Vino 301 is hosting a painting wine tour. The Art and Wine tour will go to Fridays Creek Winery, Owings, MD. Guests can enjoy an evening tasting Fridays Creek’s wines, winery tour, hors d’oeuvres, and a painting lesson. The Art and Wine tour will include transportation, similar to Vino 301’s regional tours.
