After deciding the major cast already, the new name which has been included in the 50 Shades Movie star cast is the English pop star, Rita Ora. She has confirmed on Twitter that she is the latest one to join the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie adaptation based on the novel of the same name by another Briton, Erica James. Though that was not a deciding factor in choosing Rita to play Mia Grey, the adopted sister of billionaire businessman Christian Grey, but the character Mia like Rita is musically inclined. Erica James describes her as a cello playing 22-year old girl.
The hit maker of songs such as “R.I.P” and “How We Do” is not new to Hollywood movies. Previously this 23 year old musician has been seen in Hollywood offerings such as “Fast and Furious 6” and “Spivs”. She has had a cameo role on television series “91210” as well. The casting team of the movie Fifty Shades has been busy lately and has also signed another actress who will join the Grey household. She is none other than Marcia Gay Harden who has been signed on to play Christian Grey’s adopted mother, Dr. Grace T. Grey.
But some are not apparently happy with the selection of Rita Ora to play Mia Grey. Though the casting team has its own reasons to have chosen her, many believe that the character as portrayed in the novel and etched by Erica James hardly has any similarity with the Rita Ora we have seen and heard. For starters, she is 23 and the character Mia Grey is 22years old. And the character Mia Grey plays the cello and Rita as we all know, is a singer par excellence. One quick change, however, that can be incorporated into Rita appearance is Mia’s sleek bob hair cut.
Mia Grey is the adopted sister of Christian Grey and hence, her not being a Caucasian in real life will not be an issue in this case. Born in Yugoslavia, Rita Ora has been exposed to acting lessons in her youth, when she studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. She is all set to pack her bags and join the remaining cast of the BDSM inspired love story “Fifty Shades of Grey” in Vancouver, where the pivotal characters of Anastasia Steele andChristian Grey have already started shooting and get ready for this part, have already shared their first kiss! Well, it is more like a peck on the cheek, but we all know where it would eventually lead to, her, the bedroom, where else?
Her being cast as the younger sister of the character Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey Movie” will be beneficial for the film and her. The film, though in the news, will have more identifiable faces and Rita Ora will have one more reason to be famous in the Hollywood circuit.
