Acne is a skin disorder caused by inflammation of the skin glands and hair follicles. This skin condition can either be mild and self limiting or chronic and almost disfiguring. The main objective of treating acne is actually to heal lesions, stop new ones from forming, prevent scarring, and lessen the psychological impact and embarrassment caused. There are several products available for treating acne alongside a massive number of acne treatments. Eliminating bacteria that are in the blocked follicles, or opening pores again with preparations known as peeling agents are some of the principal approaches for treating acne. Acne-causing bacteria can be successfully treated by antibiotics like the tetracycline medications.

Acne skin treatment New Jersey falls into three categories which are as follows:

Cleansing and Exfoliating- Acne can be treated by means of cleansing and exfoliating the skin. Remember to go for gentle washing, too much washing can irritate the whiteheads and blackheads, causing them to be more infected and making more pimples. You can use a mild cleanser like Cetaphil, or an acne cleanser like Aveeno acne bar. After using a mild cleanser, exfoliate with face facial scrub one to two times a week which can help reduce dead skin cells and debris that can clog pores and cause more acne.

Clean, Clear and Confident- All your cosmetics, lotions, and sunscreens should be oil-free to prevent clogging of pores. Purchase products whose labels read “noncomedogenic”, meaning they won’t clog pores. Be wary of hair products and gels, as they tend to be very oily.

Medications- Prescription medications can be effective at high doses for very severe acne, or at low doses for less severe acne, in reducing the symptoms of this skin condition.

1. Retin-A- It is available in over-the-counter solutions at your local drug store but is mainly available with a doctor’s prescription. Retin-A may cause peeling, redness and dryness of skin. It is advisable to talk to your doctor to switch your medication if you suffer some of these side effects. As it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun and more susceptible to sunburn, doctors ask to use Retin-A at night. It may take two to three months to see improvement in your skin, it is important to be patient and to strictly follow your doctor’s instructions. As it can be extremely harmful to fetal development in pregnant women, physicians may prescribe birth control pills prior to starting someone on Retin-A.

2. Benzoyl Peroxide- It kills bacteria that worsen acne, unplugging oil ducts, and helping to heal acne pimples and can be found in over-the-counter acne medications.

3. Antibiotics- Antibiotics can be extremely beneficial for acne that is swollen and red, or for acne that is not improving with other medications. The antibiotics kill the bacteria which contribute to whiteheads but they are available with a doctor’s prescription only. When it comes to antibiotics, it’s essential to follow doctor’s instructions. Take the pills with plenty of water.
