Trenton Polke announces his work as a tutor for elementary school children who attend schools in Fairmont School District 89.

Trenton Polke’s professional passion is business, but outside of the working world, he loves to give back to his community. Trenton Polke especially loves working with young children. He gained experience working as a tutor for elementary school children who attend schools in Fairmont School District 89.

Trenton Polke knows how hard school can be when you are young and energetic. “When I was a kid,” admits Trenton Polke, “I felt like school could have challenged me more. Sometimes I got bored.”

After Trenton Polke’s high school graduation, he went on to study at Miami University of Ohio in the Farmer School of Business. “I want to tell all the kids out there who are looking for a different or more interesting kind of challenge: do your best through elementary school. High school is better, and college is the best of all. What I love about higher education is that you can choose what you want to study.

It was Trenton Polke’s fervor for education that made him decide that he wanted to work as a tutor. “Everyone has different needs, strengths, and weaknesses,” he notes. “I want kids to dream big. With the right help and encouragement, anyone can achieve their dreams.”

The young children for whom Trenton Polke is a mentor love his positive attitude. They are happy around him, which means that they are enthusiastic about learning. “Sometimes, if kids don’t understand a concept right away, they get frustrated,” says Trenton Polke. “But we work together to figure it out, and in the end, we do. The kids work hard, and they want to work hard. That’s not to say that they can’t have fun too.”

Trenton Polke is great with kids because he knows the power of rewarding hard work. For Trenton Polke’s tutees, that means that when they have worked hard for a certain amount of time, they take a break to play a game or get to know each other a little better. “I want to get to know the kids,” says Trenton Polke. “We have a lot of fun together, and I learn a lot too.”
